Rio de Janeiro, Copacabana Beach is one of many famous places known to the world through song and festivals. One other reason is the rumour of lack of personal safety and theft of personal goods. Many people would warn me about being careful during our holiday in Rio.
Porto Bay Rio Internacional Hotel
Not what I would consider to be a boutique hotel. However we had a good room, nice bathroom and great views from our balcony. The pool on the roof was ok too and again has great views of Copacabana Beach The daily breakfast was totally fresh and the staff were always very helpful and courteous. Enjoyable stay.
Copacabana Beach
Perfect place and the beach is massive and plenty of space for everyone - we loved it here and spent 6 days on this beach - recommended and our man making our lethal cocktails: caipirinhas.
Ipanema Beach
Well worth a visit - we took a cab to this beach - very cheap from Copa to be fair - this beach is packed too packed I think but we went there on the weekend. Walked back to Copacabana which was tough but a good and safe walk.
Sugarloaf Mountain
Did this as part of a day trip and of course it's a very busy sight seeing destination but it was rather inspiring! I struggle with vertigo but did it although it was tough! Great views from the top once you're there - sometimes hard to get a decent pic - well worth the visit though .
Corcovado Christ the Redeemer

Rio Brasil Turismo - Day Tour
We did the The Angra dos Reis - Ilha Grande island, Freguesua and Portogalo Fun packed day and well worth the funds for a real great day out
La Fiducia Cafe
This was our very first restaurant and it was really good. A large venue with a fantastic wine cellar and the choices were enormous - they had a pianist when we were in attendance - nice place.
Giuseppe Grill
We really enjoyed this night out the food was okay by all accounts possibly not the type of restaurant we would normally visit but we had a very enjoyable time.
Quiteria Restaurante
We read fantastic reviews about this place. When we arrived we thought we were in the wrong place as the restaurant also serves the hotel too and of course not everyone dresses appropriately for dinner. However what a huge surprise every course was absolutely out of this world. What made it even more special was that the chef came and spoke to us too. Truly fabulous night and when I come back this place is on the list.
Restaurante Aprazivel
This was pretty far from Copacabana but we really did enjoy this meal - in fact it was pretty nice and looking out across Rio at night was quite romantic. The waiting staff were very helpful and the food top notch.
Tereze
We had lunch at this establishment only because we chose another restaurant to have dinner the night before. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here and the ambience was delicious as was the food.
